Description

@Adrenaline and I were looking for a joint project to set our RedCats on and decided on the SNR HB3, next to the Heart nebula. @Adrenaline burst out the gates and captured a load of data in October and I followed up where I could in November.  Originally planned to be more data, the skies have really not been helping recently with - what feels like - almost 2 months of cloudy nights.  I have finally given in and pulled my data together with @Adrenaline's generous captures to create this image.

This SNR appears very strong in SII with a much clearer and broader signal.  I've tried to show this within the image and how it varies so clearly with the typical rich SHO palette within and around the Heart.  Instead, HB3 has much weaker Ha so the colours coming forward are initially oranges/browns with the Ha & SII, then stronger reds and magenta as the SII & OIII show with less Ha at certain points.  There is a little stand alone OIII but the lack of data in this channel hurts that structure where it exists more strongly.

While we both had RedCat 51s in use here, I was using a 294MM and @Adrenaline a 1600MM.

Thanks for looking and thanks Adrian for your great subs and generous time to capture them.

Captured with an ASIAir, pre-processed in APP and processed in PixInsight.
